WHO WE ARE

THE MOUNTAIN FILM INSTITUTE

MFDB and MFI
WEBSITE TO GIVE OUT INFORMATION AND GLOBAL KNOWLEDGE NETWORK
Mountain Film Database is a Mountain Film Institute (MFI) initiative. It was founded for it to become a great content showroom that would allow to disseminate the Institute's activity and work globally. However, MFDB wants to become more than only a dissemination platform. MFDB's website aims at becoming a changing and growing web, where user inputs play a great role, and were they finally turn the web more into a network of collective knowledge than a self-managed content web. The ultimate goal is that over time, Mountain Film Database's website will be a mountain films worldwide reference site.

THEMATIC SCOPE OF MOUNTAIN FILM DATABASE

Climbing and mountaineering films

Mountain films
CLIMBING AND MOUNTAINEERING FILMS
Mountain film is a very general term that can include different topics related to the world of mountains. Various different types of productions could be classified under the term mountain film: geographic, landscape, human and historical aspects of mountain areas etc. However, Mountain Film Institute's work and scope of themes in the MFDB is specialized in climbing and mountaineering. For this reason, MFDB films and content only focus on climbing and mountaineering.

For more information related to the thematic scope and type of films in the Mountain Film Database, see Film criteria page.
