Adding films

HOW IT WORKS AND SPECIFICITIES

1. Why is the Add films function disabled? This is Mountain Film Database's kick start. It has just been published in testing mode (beta version) and only with a part of the content that's planned it will hold. We are working intensely to progressively incorporate new film titles and data. Until we finalize the development phase the Add films section will be disabled as it could interfere and slow down the film entry process. As soon as beta phase is over we will enable this feature and will inform all registered users.

2. How can I add a new film? You must fill out and send the Add films form with all known data. This is just the first step as the film is sent to MFDB administration to review and complete information, and  then publish it into the general database. To learn about all the process details, see Adding films.

3. What type of films can I add? Added films must meet MFDB's selection criteria. Petitions to add films that don't meet criteria won't be accepted. Basically films should comply with:

• Theme: Should revolve around mountaineering and climbing.

Genre: Should be completed (not in process) audiovisual productions of any cinematographic genre that adjust to established criteria.

Production: Comply with production and quality criteria.

4. How do I know the Add a film form has been sent in correctly? Once the Add films form is sent the film is registered as a quarantined film and will be on the Films in quarantine list. Every user can see his/her added films in his/her private area in My MFDB menu.

5. What if I don't know the production year of the film? Although it's a compulsory field, if you don't know the film's production year you can give an approximate year and inform about this in the Other data field.

6. Can I add more information besides the given via the form fields? Of course. All extra data of interest can be added in the Other data field in the Add films form.

7. What happens with films that don't come out of quarantine? There are different reasons for a film not to overcome quarantine. When the provided information is not enough to identify a film or when we cannot certify it exists, MFBD administration will contact the user that added it and try to complete information. If the film cannot be verified or when a film does not meet requirements it will be deleted from the quarantine area and a message will be sent to the user explaining cause for dismissal.

Modifications

EDITING ADDED FILMS

8. Can I modify an added film? Yes, but only while it's in quarantine. Once the film overcomes quarantine and is added to the general database it can no longer be modified by the user that added it. From this point on any petition to modify data has to be done via the Contact form.

9. Can I delete a film I added? No, currently this function doesn't exist. If the film has been entered by mistake you must notify this in the Other data field by editing the film in the private area My Added films in the My MFDB menu. You may also send a petition to delete the film to MFDB administration via the Contact form.

10. Can I update data on a  film that has overcome quarantine? Data for general database films can only be updated by MFDB administration. You can inform us about any mistake or new data via the Contact form or via the Add details tab at the bottom of the film page.
