In 2005 Steve McClure and Gaz Parry, two of the UK's best climbers joined forces to attempt an on-sight ascent of one of Europe's hardest sport climbs, Hotel Supramonte, on Sardinia. The climb overhangs for nearly 500m, has four pitches graded between 8a and 8b, and has previously rejected all other attempts - this is their story.

Locations

In April 2005, two of the U.K.’s best climbers joined forces to attempt an on-sight ascent of Europe’s most famous ultra-hard big-wall sport climb, "Hotel Supramonte", on the island of Sardinia. The climb overhangs for nearly half a kilometre, has four pitches graded between 8a and 8b and has previously rejected on-sight attempts by the best of the best. With only four days to repeat the route, Steve McClure and Gaz Parry soon find that the desperate, exposed climbing, widely spaced protection and crushing fatigue are not the only obstacles they will face.
